Costing & Material Quantification

Material Quantification for Cabinet Costing.

Know what the project will consume before you price it.

Owners and estimators shouldn't have to pull a production drafter away from approved jobs just to work out material quantities.

Mozaik Drafting helps cabinet manufacturers, joinery businesses and builders quantify the materials and components required from project plans—giving estimating teams the information they need to cost future projects.

Keep your estimator estimating. Keep your drafter drafting.

Illustrative costing preview
The gap in many joinery businesses

A common problem in joinery businesses is the gap between estimating a project and drafting an approved project.

Is your drafter helping with costing?

Before the project can be priced

The owner or estimator needs answers.

An owner or estimator receives a new project and needs to know:

  • How much board is required?
  • What components are required?
  • What hardware or fittings may be required?
  • What quantities should be allowed for in the price?
The usual workaround

Approved work gets interrupted.

So they turn to the production drafter. The drafter stops working on approved jobs, works through the future project, provides the quantities—and then returns to the production workload.

  1. 01

  2. 02

  3. 03
Approved work stopsProduction drafting is interrupted
  4. 04
Quantities preparedInformation is supplied for costing
  5. 05

That time adds up. While your drafter is helping with costing, approved jobs aren't being drafted.
Keep both stages moving

We help close that gap.

A dedicated costing workflow

Separate costing from production drafting.

Mozaik Drafting provides a dedicated material quantification service for the costing stage.

Send us the project plans and your requirements. We review the available information and provide the quantities your owner, estimator or estimating team needs to build the costing.

Your estimator gets the information. Your production drafter stays focused on approved work.

What can we quantify?

Depending on the project and information provided, our costing service can assist with quantities such as:

01
Quantification

Board & Sheet Materials

Board, sheet and panel quantities based on the project information supplied.

02
Quantification

Hardware & Fittings

Required hardware and fittings where the relevant information is available.

03
Quantification

Cabinet Quantities

Cabinet counts and quantities across the agreed project scope.

04

Structured Quantity Breakdown

A clear breakdown organised around your estimating requirements.

06
How it is agreed

Agreed Project Scope

The exact inclusions and level of quantification are confirmed before work starts.

The exact scope of quantification can be agreed before we start each project.

How it works

Simple process. Clear information.

  1. 01

    Send the plans

Send us the architectural plans, project drawings and any relevant specifications.

  2. 02

    We review the project

We review the available information and confirm the scope of the costing work.

  3. 03

    We quantify

Our team works through the project and prepares the agreed material and component quantities.

  4. 04

    You cost the job

The owner or estimator receives the information in the agreed format and uses it to prepare the project costing.

No interruption to your production drafting workflow.

The business benefit

Keep your production team focused on production.

  1. Reduce drafting interruptions

Your production drafter can stay focused on approved projects rather than repeatedly being pulled into costing work.

  2. Increase estimating capacity

Your estimating team gets the information required to price more projects without relying on the production drafting team.

  3. Keep projects moving

Separate costing support from production drafting and create a clearer workflow from estimate through to manufacturing.

Who is this for?

Built for businesses that deal with ongoing project volume.

  • 01

    Cabinet Manufacturers

Keep your production drafting team focused on manufacturing projects.

  • 02

    Joinery Businesses

Add costing capacity without hiring another estimator or taking your drafter away from production work.

  • 03

    Builders

Get a clearer understanding of cabinetry material requirements during the pricing stage.

  • 04

    Commercial & Multi-Residential Projects

Handle larger projects where manually quantifying materials can consume significant internal resources.

Costing + Drafting

Costing FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What to expect before we begin your material quantification project.

We provide the quantities. You price the project.
What plans do you need?

We can work from architectural plans, project drawings and other information available at the costing stage. The exact information required will depend on the project.

Do you provide a final project price?

No. We provide the agreed material and component quantities to assist your estimating team. Your business remains responsible for applying its material costs, labour, overheads, margins and other pricing factors.

Can you work with our existing costing system?

Yes. We can discuss your current workflow and agree on the information and format your estimating team requires.

Can you quantify a complete house or multi-residential project?

Yes. We can assess larger projects based on their scope and the information available.

Can you quantify hardware as well as board?

Where the required information is available, hardware and fittings can be included within the agreed scope.

Can you work from incomplete plans?

If only floor plans are available, we can design the kitchen cabinets and provide a 3D image with material quantities. We will identify important missing information before proceeding.

Can you also draft the project if we win it?

Yes. Our separate Mozaik Drafting service can take an approved project through production drafting.

How do we get started?

Send us the project plans. We will review your requirements and provide a quote.
